From Mad Men-Love Among the Ruins (Season 3, episode 2)
Man: It’s called a Stinger. I don’t know what’s in it.
Peggy: It’s delicious.
Well, here’s what’s in it chuckle-head:
The Stinger
2 1/4 oz. Brandy
3/4 oz. White crème de menthePour the ingredients into an ice filled old fashioned glass and stir. Alternatively, shake with ice and pour into a chilled cocktail glass.
According to Esquire Magazine cocktail historian, David Wondrich, “the Stinger [was] a favorite with flyboys back in the Big One. Chalk this up to one of two things: (1) They were a bunch of college boys who hadn’t got used to the taste of real liquor; or (2) The mint oil it contains was widely supposed to work toward disguising the alcohol on one’s breath.” —more
Makes sense, because Mr. Was Pre-Law and Now Engineering Major probably saw it in a movie.
UPDATE: Not at all an endorsement of this drink. Like I need to tell you chuckle-heads.*
