Hello American Drink readers! It’s site update time! First, speaking for everyone at American Drink, thank you, thank you, a great big thank you. Your recommendations, likes, reblogs and shares mean a lot so we feel it’s time to open up our booze soaked hearts and let you in. Just a little bit, though.
1) Getting Real - Our buddy, Rod Knowlton (aka @toldorknown) wrote a script that takes our jokey twitter/tumblr names and changes them to our real names. When you click them, the link still takes you to our personal Tumblr blogs but hey, step inside. It’s cold out there.
Is this something you want on your Tumblr? If so, Mr. Knowlton makes everything available over at Codelahoma!.2) So who the hell are you? - We have an actual “About” page (here) where you can find out all kinds of neat things about us. Clicking our names there, displays all the American Drink stories by that author.
3) Categories - Over the next few weeks, we’ll be tagging our stories to make it easier to find them grouped by subject, like whiskey. We’re still trying to find the best way to display them within the Wordographic theme.
4) Tumblr Questions - A few of you have used the ‘Ask’(americandrink.net/ask) feature and we’ve either tried to answer you via email or let them sit there, reminding us that we’re awful people. We’re just not that happy with how tumblr, and this theme for that matter, handle or display the questions. Our problem though, not yours, so we’re going to get to those questions and post them up over the next few weeks.
Please feel free to use ‘Ask’ but if you email us, you’ll get a quicker response because we’re too busy scratching our monkey heads figuring out what to about the Ask-monolith.
Comments will not be enabled.5) Contact - Speaking of getting in touch with us, there’s always e-mail. But our current email address is ugly (americandrink dot net @ gmail . com, ugh) So now, it’s info @ americandrink.net. We paid good money to a joint that sounds more like a crawfish restaurant than a domain name registrar, so we might as well use it.
6) Full disclosure - You should know that any link to Amazon is most likely an affiliate link. Each of us uses our own affiliate link within our stories. If you buy something through it, we receive a much appreciated kickback. Thank you.
We have not received anything from liquor companies, distributors or bars in exchange for what we write. We’ve done a couple reviews but they just don’t fit right. We only mention products by name because it’s what we like but we’re more interested in what you like. Part of drinking is discovery, so get out there and figure it out.
If this changes, we will make it obvious that we’re barking for a product.
We’ve also received a copy of one book for free that we have not reviewed.
And that’s it for now. Again, thank you for reading.
So let me ask you: Besides pouring gin straight down your throat, how can we help you drink better?
